Validation and Verification of Models and Simulations

In the early 2000’s, I was a member of the Synthetic Environment Working Group which was looking at standardization of all the models and simulations in DND.  We met monthly at the office of the Synthetic Environment Coordinator Officer.  We discussed standards for modelling and simulation.

In particular, I was a member of the Validation and Verification Subgroup.  In this regard, I studied the field of Exploratory Analysis.  Exploratory Analysis was developed by the RAND Corporation.  It involved a process of extensive sensitive analysis to find robust results from simulations.  I gave a presentation on the use of Exploratory Analysis to validate simulation models.
